Unlocking Success: Key Factors for International Mobility Program in Implementing the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka Curriculum

This article is based on research conducted at nationally accredited State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) in Indonesia, which have already begun implementing the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) curriculum. The informants serving as data sources consist of 15 students participating in the International Mobility Program (IMP). A qualitative case study gathered data from interviews, observations, and documentation. The research emphasizes that the determinants of IMP success in supporting the implementation of the MBKM curriculum consist of four aspects: 1) through the ability to adapt well to a new environment, students gain learning experiences outside the campus by adjusting and respecting cultural differences in the destination country; 2) through international language proficiency, students are increasingly trained to conduct high-quality research and communicate effectively creatively; 3) through their interest in challenges and adventures in foreign campuses, students confidently present in international forums; 4) through the transformation of a global perspective, students are motivated to pursue further studies abroad and intend to participate in international programs in the following years. Understanding and emphasizing these factors is crucial for optimizing the benefits derived from international mobility initiatives within the unique context of religious higher education institutions.

Prophetic Approach in Environmental Education and Community Empowerment: A Case Study of Sustainable Pesantren Development

Purpose: This study explores the application of the prophetic approach in community empowerment for the development of sustainable Pesantren. It aims to investigate how environmental education, integrated with Islamic teachings, can enhance human awareness and commitment to environmental preservation within the context of Pesantren.   Method: The study is based on a case study of Pondok Pesantren Islam Modern (PPMI) Assalaam, utilizing qualitative research methods. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, document analysis, and direct observation. The analysis focuses on understanding the implementation of environmental education programs and the prophetic approach to community empowerment at PPMI Assalaam.   Result and Conclusion: The concept of Green Pesantren at PPMI Assalaam involves integrating environmental education with Islamic teachings and social values, leading to a balanced education approach. Two main programs, the Adiwiyata Program and the Ekopesantren Program, are implemented to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices within the Pesantren community. The study finds that environmental awareness among the community members influences their beliefs, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, contributing to environmental preservation efforts. Additionally, community empowerment at PPMI Assalaam is based on environmental consciousness, community empowerment principles, and the prophetic approach, emphasizing not only physical and social development but also spiritual growth and deeper connections with God. This holistic approach enriches empowerment theory with transcendent elements, providing a profounder understanding of human development and societal change.   Implication of the Research: The findings of this study have implications for environmental education and community empowerment initiatives within Pesantren and similar religious educational institutions. By integrating the prophetic approach, Pesantren can enhance their efforts in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students and the broader community. Moreover, the study suggests that a holistic approach to community empowerment, encompassing spiritual and transcendent dimensions, can lead to more meaningful and sustainable societal change.   Originality/Value: This study contributes to the understanding of how the prophetic approach can be applied to environmental education and community empowerment within the context of Pesantren. By integrating Islamic teachings with environmental principles, Pesantren can play a significant role in fostering environmental stewardship and sustainable development. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of considering spiritual dimensions in empowerment theory, offering new insights into holistic approaches to community development.

Holistic Curriculum Development in Islamic Religious Education Institutions in Primary Schools or Madrasah Ibtidaiyah

The era has experienced developments and changes in various fields. These developments and changes can affect changes in the education system. Nowadays, education has become an important part of social life, because education can change the quality of one's life. It can be proven that the higher the level of education, the more knowledge and experience a person has so that it is easier to solve life problems. One of the cornerstones of education is the curriculum, so when there are developments in various fields that can affect the education system, the curriculum is the same. Problems that arise in society also encourage changes in the education system. The curriculum is here to solve problems and meet the demands of society. The curriculum is designed to facilitate existing learning. This research uses qualitative research methods with the type of library study (library research), which is a method of collecting data by understanding and studying theories from various literature related to research, collecting data by searching for sources and reconstructing from various sources such as books, journals, and existing research. The indicators of success include understanding the concept of Islam, applying the values of religious teachings in daily life, improving student behavior and attitudes, and improving the quality of individual character Developing a holistic curriculum for Islamic religious education in elementary schools or madrasah ibtidaiyah is an important step in developing balanced and moral individuals. This curriculum covers the development of all aspects of a person, including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. The implementation of a holistic curriculum requires the active role of teachers and the application of creative and interactive learning methods. The success of a holistic curriculum can be seen from the achievements of students in understanding religious concepts, applying religious education values, changing behavior and improving the quality of individual character. By developing a holistic curriculum, it is hoped that Islamic religious education can contribute to the formation of a pious national character.

The project of state transforma- tions by M.M. Speransky

   The relevance of the research lies in the analysis of the transformation project of one of the outstanding reformers of the days of Alexander I, whose ideas were not duly appreciated, but could prevent serious upheavals in Russia during subsequent reigns.   The problem is that changes proposed by Speransky’s would have laid the foundation for a deep reform of the country, however, not all projects were destined to be realized.   The purpose of the research is to consider the transformation projects of Speransky M.M. and to analyze the degree of their implementation.   The article used the retrospective and historical-genetic methods of historical research. The first allowed us to immerse ourselves in the events of the past, the second allowed us to analyze the degree of implementation of projects. The result of the research: many of Mikhail Mikhailovich’s proposals would subsequently be considered by the descendants of the winner of Napoleon Bonaparte, but then the Russian emperor considered the projects premature. Only the reform of religious educational institutions was one of the few that was implemented almost completely.   The conclusion: Speransky’s proposals in the field of religious education were implemented more than all others examined in the research; among state reforms, only the State Council arose; as for tax reforms, only certain partial proposals of the reformer were implemented.

Strategi Kepala Madrasah dalam Meningkatkan Kompetensi Profesionalisme Guru Pendidikan Agama Islam di MA Al Amin Malang

<p><em>This research aims to reveal the strategies used by the pricipal of Madrasah in increasing the competency and professionalism of Islamic religious education teachers at MA Al Amin Malang. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, observations, and analysis of related documents. The research results show that the Principal of Madrasah use various strategies, including continuous training and development, providing support and recognition, as well as ongoing coaching and supervision. These strategies aim to improve the quality of teaching and learning, inspire teacher motivation, and strengthen commitment to the profession. The implications of this research are the important role of the Principal in creating a work environment that is conducive to developing teacher professionalism, as well as the need for investment in ongoing training and coaching. This research was conducted over a period of time from July to December 2023. It is epected that this research can provide valuable input for the development of more effective school management policies and practices in Islamic religious education institutions.</em></p>

PERAN PONDOK PESANTREN DALAM PENGEMBANGAN MASYARAKAT DI ERA GLOBALISASI

This article aims to analyze the role of Islamic boarding schools in community development in the era of globalization. So far, Islamic boarding schools are known to be limited to traditional religious educational institutions with kyai and santri components. However, currently, Islamic boarding schools have made great progress in various ways, not only as traditional religious educational institutions but also as pioneers of social transformation. Therefore, this research is important as a vehicle for communicating to the government or the wider community about the role of Islamic boarding schools in their development. Community development is a fundamental concept that underlines many well-established terms such as resource development, rural community development, community economic development, rural revitalization and community-based development. The method used in this research uses a qualitative approach with the nature of library research with data collection techniques obtained through relevant literature: journals, textbooks and online literature. The research results show that the role of Islamic boarding schools has been implemented well in community development, which shows the quality of social relations and planned and gradual progress, such as improving public services and facilities, increasing local government accountability, increasing community participation, improving leadership, building new institutions, and initiate economic and physical development. Analysis of student satisfaction with the quality of academic library services at state Christian religious higher education institutions

This study aimed to obtain accurate information about the student satisfaction level with academic library services in State Christian Religious Higher Education institutions and to evaluate the performance of each attribute service. A quantitative approach involving descriptive statistical methods was used. For data collection, a questionnaire comprising 16 statements, validated by five experts, was employed and the data were gathered from 382 students across three participating State Christian Religious Higher Education institutions. The data analysis employed descriptive statistical methods and involved the use of the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) formula and the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) method. The results showed that the percentage of overall student satisfaction level for academic library services was 66.24%, indicating students were largely content with these services. However, there was room for improvement in the performance of these services. This study identified certain service attributes such as internet accessibility, library collection, library catalog system, timeliness of library opening and closing, library staff readiness, and the speed of library staff in handling requests, which were found to provide low satisfaction levels to students. A comprehensive performance evaluation for each academic library service attribute resulted in a mapping visualized through the four quadrants of the Cartesian diagram. The management of the State Christian Religious Higher Education must develop various facilities for library operational support and also staff competencies to improve the academic library services.

``Namanya juga Pesantren'': A Photovoice Study about Self-adjustment of Students in Islamic Boarding School

Pondok Pesantren (PP) or Islamic boarding school is a popular religious educational institution in Indonesia. The characteristic of PP required students to live in a boarding school, this encouraged students to be able to adapt to the differences and limitations of PP. This study aims to find out how students adapt to PP. The participants are four female students in grade 2 of a PP junior high school in the city of Ternate, North Maluku. The method used in this study is photovoice and analyzed using thematic analysis with Nvivo 12 Pro software. Four themes of adjustment emerged from the findings are as follows: new habits, religious habits, facing and resolving challenges, and relationships.

Religiosity and Plurality Within the Framework of Indonesian Diversity

This study investigates Religiosity and Plurality among Students and Lecturers at Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) in South Sulawesi, aiming to 1) assess their levels, 2) identify influencing factors, and 3) evaluate developmental effectiveness for both aspects. Employing a mixed-methods approach within a Religious and Cultural Education framework, the research utilized observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation for data collection, followed by a comprehensive data analysis process. Results from 77 respondents indicated high levels of religiosity (87.7%) and plurality (86%), signifying an excellent standing in both dimensions. Influential factors for these dimensions were the educational and community environments, highlighting that family, campus, and societal contexts play significant roles. It was noted that cooperation across different backgrounds is widely accepted, provided it does not conflict with personal beliefs. The study also found that the developmental patterns implemented at PTKIN in South Sulawesi are effective, enabling students and lecturers to appreciate and navigate religious, ethnic, cultural, and racial diversity successfully. Implications of the research emphasize the importance of understanding and practising religiosity and plurality within the PTKIN community in South Sulawesi. Such practices are essential for fostering a harmonious religious, national, and state life, aligning with Pancasila's values and the belief in the One Supreme God.

Leadership of the Head of Madrasah in Forming Santri Religious Competence in Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah

Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah is one of the Islamic religious education institutions outside of formal education which is organized in a structured and tiered manner as a complement to the implementation of religious education. Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah Awaliyah Education is flexible, accommodating, and integrated, therefore its development can be carried out by the Central Ministry of Religion, education relates to the problem of madrasa principals in forming opportunities to hold meetings effectively with teachers in a conducive situation. This research uses a qualitative research approach in this study and aims to reveal existing data in the field by describing and interpreting something like what is in the field and linking cause and effect to something that happened during the research, to obtain a realistic picture of the program development process training. The research was conducted at the Al Munawaroh Laranganan MDTA, Lohbener Indramayu District. The results of the research show that the principal at MDTA Al-Munawaroh in Larangan village is still conventional in the pattern of forming the competence of his students. The principal in forming the competence of his students emphasizes only cognitive aspects. In the classroom, the teacher can provide teaching to students that emphasizes the effective domain (feelings and attitudes), without abandoning the values contained in the cognitive (rational thinking) and psychomotor (skills) domains.

SPIRITUAL BASE OF PESANTREN FOR BUILDING MULTICULTURAL AWARENESS IN INDONESIA CONTEXT

This study examines the spiritual base of Pesantren, which is essential in building multicultural awareness. In Indonesia, Pesantren is an Islamic religious education institution emphasizing spirituality's importance. Pesantren is also closely related to various social and religious aspects. This study aims to find a spiritual base and its utilization in building multicultural awareness. This research uses a phenomenological qualitative study with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research was conducted for 1.5 years, from 2018-2019. Observations were made for a week every month. Interviews were conducted with 16 informants at site A and 13 at site B. Data analysis used a constant comparative model. From the results of the study, there are several significant findings: 1) Kiai's view of the spirituality of Islamic boarding schools related to multiculturalism is based on the monotheism of humanity; 2) Pesantrens have spiritual capital that comes from Sufistic teachings (Sufism) and interacts spirally with multiculturalism; 3) multicultural values are born from spiritual values that are grown and summarised in three categories of values, namely fundamental values, personal values , and social values; and 4) spiritual-multicultural interactions that continue to make students more multicultural competent. Multicultural awareness built through intense spirituality can birth "selfless multiculturalism"; an authentic multicultural attitude.

Design Of Online Arabic Language Learning Based On Independent Learning In Islamic Banking Study Program STEBANK Islam

Islamic Banking Study Program STEBANK Islam Mr. Sjafruddin Prawiranegara is a private Islamic religious higher education institution that includes 2 credits of Arabic language learning as one of the instruments in achieving a graduate profile. The learning achievement target with the weight given is very minimal, therefore, in order for Arabic language learning to be effective and efficient, independent learning needs to be designed which is supported by an online system that provides learning freedom, this is as recommended by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Religion. This research is a descriptive qualitative research that describes the design of online Arabic language learning based on independent learning in the Sharia Banking study program at STEBANK Islam Mr. Sjafruddin Prawiranegara. The results show that although independent learning tends to be directed at skill mastery in non-formal education, the principles can be applied to formal education by providing limits in the form of competency mastery targets with a time duration determined by the institution that learners must adhere to with a learning system that provides flexibility in time and place.

Building Bridges of Understanding: Cross-Cultural Religious Literacy Initiatives in Pakistan

The essay advocates for integrating CCRL courses and modules into secular and religious educational institutions, emphasizing the importance of inclusive policies and community involvement. Furthermore, it highlights the positive impact of CCRL education on various professional fields, ranging from clergy members to policymakers, in cultivating a more cohesive and tolerant society.

Strategy and Portrait of the Literacy Movement in Public Madrasah Ibtidaiyah

The need for literacy in the era of globalization demands the state's role to facilitate educational systems and services in line with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution. Efforts were made by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia by launching the Madrasah Literacy Movement (GLM) program to generate literacy at various levels of religious educational institutions. The research method uses qualitative research methods using a field research approach. Data was collected based on observations, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques using the Miles and Huberman model go through three steps: data condensation, data presentation, conclusion, and verification. The results showed that madrasah policies in adopting the madrasah literacy movement program in Public Islamic Elementary Schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri, MIN) were implemented by making policies for monitored reading programs, reading corner programs, and providing textbooks/non-lessons for students. The strategy of the madrasah literacy movement in MIN is the form of conditioning a literacy-friendly physical environment, striving for a social and practical environment as a communication and literacy interaction model, and seeking madrasah as a literate academic environment. Indigenous communities have become an important part of Indonesia’s national development program. The 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia recognizes and respects the unity of customary law communities and their traditional rights. Indigenous communities, like other communities, have access to educational services provided by both public and private educational institutions, including those that specialize in religious education. Does general education and religious education influence indigenous peoples’ cultural identities? Do the values received from public education institutions affect changes in indigenous peoples' traditional values? Based on an ethnographic study in the traditional community of Kampung Urug in Bogor, we investigated how the community accepts modern and religious educational institutions while retaining their cultural identity and traditional values. We found that the indigenous people of Kampung Urug recognize three distinct authorities that govern their lives: customary authority, religious authority, and government authority. Representatives from the three authorities are always present at traditional activities organized by Kampung Urug’s indigenous community, indicating an attempt to maintain a balance between the three authorities. Because of this division of authority, the Kampung Urug’s community is able to accept modern values without undermining traditional values passed down from generation to generation.

Sufisme-Based Character Practices At Darul Afkar Islamic Boerding School Klaten

Character education is a system of cultivating character values which includes components of knowledge, awareness or will, and actions to carry out values that are considered noble. Islamic boarding schools are one of the Islamic religious educational institutions that have a role in contributing to instilling character education values in their students or students. One of the studies carried out at Islamic boarding schools is the study of Sufism, namely the science that teaches how to have noble morals. The purpose of this study was to find out how the practice of internalizing character education at the Darul Afkar Klaten Islamic Boarding School which is based on Sufism. The results of the study show that the practice of reciting blessings, reciting zikir, and sufistic therapy has a correlation in inculcating character education.

SELFADJUSTMENTOF TRANS GENDERAT THE AL-FATAH WARIA ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL

This research aims to explore the experiences of transgender individuals in their self-adjustment within Islamic boarding schools, commonly known as pesantrens. It examines the challenges faced by transgender individuals, the strategies employed by pesantrens to facilitate their self-adjustment, and the role of culture and religion in shaping their experiences. The study also investigates the significance of social support networks in assisting transgender individuals during their journey of self-adjustment within pesantrens. Through qualitative interviews with transgender individuals and founders of pesantrens, this research sheds light on the intersection of gender identity and religious beliefs. The findings highlight the importance of understanding, acceptance, and support in promoting the well-being and successful adjustment of transgender individuals in pesantrens. This research contributes to the discourse on inclusivity and empowerment within religious educational institutions

Does Home or School Matter More? The Effect of Family and Institutional Socialization on Religiosity: The Case of Hungarian Youth

The proportion of people who receive a religious upbringing at home and attend religious educational institutions varies across time and space. It is debatable how effectively various forms of religious socialization contribute to shaping one’s religious identity. In Hungary, the proportion of young people receiving a religious upbringing is declining, but the church-run school sector is growing, which is accompanied by an increase in the proportion of pupils in a church-run school who do not receive a religious upbringing at home. This provides an opportunity to compare the impact of different socialization settings on religiosity. In the present study, we investigate how religious upbringing at home, church school attendance, and participation in religious education affect the different dimensions of young people’s religiosity, hypothesizing that religious education within the family is decisive; but without it, the effect of the church school cannot be observed. For the analysis, we used data from the questionnaire-based Hungarian Youth Survey 2016 and 2020. Our results show that the influence of religious upbringing at home is dominant, but church schools significantly support young people’s religious identity and practice without having an impact on the content of young people’s beliefs and value preferences.

Deciphering the student dilemma: The quest for passion and purpose on addmision of tadris biology department a religious higher education institutions

The primary objective of this study is to scrutinize the underlying factors that inform students' choices when selecting the Tadris Biology major at a Religious Higher Education Institution located in Jambi. The research adopts a qualitative, remarkably grounded theory approach as its methodological framework. The central aim is to comprehensively examine the justifications and rationales that steer students toward their decision to pursue the Tadris Biology major. The research methodology is firmly anchored in qualitative paradigms, and grounded theory provides the overarching structure for this investigation. The data collection technique in this research is by using a questionnaire. Data analysis is systematically carried out through thematic analysis, allowing for extracting key themes and insights. The sample selection process is methodically executed, utilizing the theoretical sampling method. The samples were 98 students registered in the Tadris Biology department at an Islamic college. The research findings collectively underscore the significant influence of Gender-Based Considerations, Parental and Familial Influence, Personal Interest in Biology as a Major Field of Study, an Exploration into the Impact of School Background, and Prospects for Future Careers in steering students' decisions within this academic domain.
